Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1⅓ lb medium ground beef
1 egg
¼ cup dry bread crumbs
3 green onions, finely chopped
3 tbsp Better Than Bouillon® Sautéed Onion Base
½ tsp pepper
4 slices Cheddar cheese
2 tbsp butter
1 onion, thinly sliced into rings
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 tbsp mayonnaise
4 burger buns, split and toasted
1 cup baby arugula
4 thick slices tomato
16 bread and butter pickles

Directions

  • 1

Mix together ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, green onions, 2 tbsp Sautéed Onion Base and pepper. Divide into 4 portions and shape into 1/2-thick patties.

  • 2

Preheat grill to medium-high; grease grate well. Grill burgers for 10 to 12 minutes or until instant-read thermometer inserted into center of burger reads 160°F. Top burgers with cheese slices; cook for 1 minute or until cheese is melted.

  • 3

Meanwhile, melt butter in large skillet set over medium-high heat. Cook onion with remaining Sautéed Onion Base for 3 to 5 minutes or slightly softened.

  • 4

Spread mustard and mayonnaise over buns. Sandwich arugula, tomato slices, burgers, sautéed onions and pickles in buns.

Alternatively, cook burgers on the stovetop in a large skillet with 1 tbsp canola oil until golden brown and cooked through, topping with cheese in the last minute of cooking.
