Italian-Style Mushrooms

Sautéed until rich and flavorful, these tasty mushrooms can be served as a side with grilled steak, pork chops or chicken.

Ingredients

3 tbsp olive oil
1 lb small button mushrooms
½ small red pepper, diced
1 small onion, diced
2 tbsp Better Than Bouillon® Seasoned Vegetable Base
3 cloves garlic
2 tsp minced fresh thyme
1 tsp Italian seasoning
⅓ cup white wine
¼ cup torn fresh basil

Directions

    Heat oil in large skillet set over medium-high heat; cook mushrooms for 5 to 8 minutes or until slightly browned.

    Stir in red pepper, onion, Seasoned Vegetable Base, garlic, thyme and Italian seasoning; cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown and tender.

    Stir in white wine and 1/3 cup water; simmer for 1 to 2 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half. Stir in basil before serving.

Tip: Add a pinch of hot pepper flakes for a spicy addition.
